The Mermaid and The Boy
One summer day, the mermaid sang a lovely song.
Her sweet voice reached the ears of the boy she longed for.
And the boy who thought everything in his life was wrong,
Wanted to follow the melancholic melody and ran towards the shore.
It was love sweet and innocent.
It was love forbidden and indifferent.
Sacrifice's what love is all about.
And everyday they had secret meetings until they were seen by a scout.
No longer did she see the boy, for he was married to someone else.
No longer did he hear the mermaid's song for all he could hear were wedding bells.
Their love was real, their love was like magic.
Their love took a fatal turn, their love was tragic.
And everytime the boy, now a man, looks towards the sea,
He would always see a woman on the rock, singing a sad plea.
But there was nothing he could do, for they were of two different worlds,
And this was when he realized that love... love can't conquer all.
